Under no circumstances should you drag the rottweiler puppy over to the mess to show and scold, punish or rub his nose in it. Put him in a location where he cannot see you cleaning it up.
Since you own him, it is totally your duty to be watchful enough that he is not doing anything wrong. So as to be happy your new Rottweiler must feel protected about his place in the group.
If you havent discovered any accidents within a duration of two weeks then the chances are that your rottweiler dog has understood where to go for potty and you may let him go out of the crate during free time. If there is an accident, you may have gone too quick. Remember that this is a kid you are coping with; he cannot progress more rapidly than his maturity level will allow him.
Also a change in area could affect your rottweiler dogs. They take time to familiarize them to the new location. The case is same for even dogs who are entirely housetrained.
Accidents are a common way for most rottweilers to inform predators if any who can come to their land.
Even an older dog must be allowed to leave the crate within a period of three hours. A more practical schedule for an adult dog is during awaking. Most dogs (like people!) will micturate within several seconds of waking up. Many will defecate within minutes of awakening.
Bring your dog outside the crate for no less than 4-5 times a day during waking up, lunch and at dinner when he can micturate or can have bowel movement.
By doing so, he can savor your company or can spend time with you until you go to sleep. Finally, take him out for potty and back again to sleep. Or else, apply the same methods and schedule using the same area, the same potty word, the same rewards, etc.
Correctly and constantly using this procedure of instructions I have had no failures - and neither will you. Each and every dog has been trustworthy within three weeks of commencing his training. If your dog is successful in completing the work, praise him and reward him for his fabulous task.
And, if your dog "forgets", be sure that you don't allow him observe you clean up after him. If you do not see ANY results after 4 - 5 weeks, you may need to look for the recommendation and assistance of a qualified dog trainer.
