A year ago, one of my beagle puppies resolved to walk away from house. . She had been in our family for six years and a roommate for our little west highland terrier (Muttley).
At her christening we came up with the beagle puppy name Scoobie which was far away from any other dogs name.Muttley was handled like a little baby by Scoobie or maybe I should say like royalty, as far as she was concerned she was the salt of the earth.
It was the most pitiful I had ever seen Muttley when Scobbied walked out on us with his tail between his legs. One of my friend started telling me about beagle dogs and I digested all the info I could on the cyberspace .I believed what a good thing for Muttley if I could get a big dog to be his buddy. It was only then that the real search took off in earnest to discover where we could find a dog.
To me the most important point was to be able to visit the breeder and ask him a few questions about the beagle breed.I had everyone at work helping me try and locate a good stock breeder.
My oldest and darling friend lent a hand as well, she spent ages going through the yellow pages hoping to track down stock breeders I am a city slicker and my mate Barbara lives in the countryside. Barbara is within a very short driving distance of Long Island and we were told from a dependable source that there were dog breeders there.
So Barbara picked up the call and made an assignment to see the stock breeders in the flesh.April 23rd 2003 was the day that a litter of pups come the world. We couldnt contain ourselves with the stress of visiting the breeders and picking up our new puppy.
When we finally coped to visit the beagle dog I had to have them all or so I thought as they were just amazing. After 3 more visits to the stock breeders I had to make my choice as to which dog I wanted and it was not easy at all. I had my hubby with me, my pal Barbara, and I didn't have to make a selection, suddenly this small chap started chasing me around my car and untied my shoe lace, so I guess he chose me.
On May 10, 2004, Smurf came to his new home and has been such a joy for us and Muttley.
Smurf has made even the most distressed person laugh and smile, how could you not like that face.Smurf is a quick mover when it comes to the ladies and by the looks of thing we are going to become grandparents again.
